I have been active since the day I could walk. I had so much energy as a little girl and I used every bit of it on playing any sport or game I could. When I was old enough to play on sports teams, I was a year-round athlete. I ran cross country, track, and played basketball until I graduated high school.
I attended the University of Arkansas for my Bachelors Degree. It wasn't hard deciding what I wanted to do with my life. I loved to exercise, and I knew the positive impact it could make on a person. When I entered college, I knew that I wanted to change others' lives through exercise. In 2005, during my sophomore year, I started working as a personal trainer in the University of Arkansas' recreation center. It was here that I realized what an impact I could have on an individual, regardless of their fitness level, age, disability, injury, or ailment. I have been changing lives ever since. In 2007, I accepted a Fitness/Wellness Graduate Assistantship at the University of West Florida (UWF). I was in charge of the group fitness and personal training programs. During these two years, my focus as a trainer began to be on individuals who needed to incorporate exercise into their lives; not just those who wanted it. It felt so rewarding to help someone overcome the intimidation of entering a gym or work out in front of others. I helped many, many people do this at UWF. After earning my Masters, I wanted to further expand my knowledge of fitness. I made a bold move and moved to New Zealand to work with their fitness programs, which are some of the most prestigious in the world. I started marketing outdoor fitness and in-home fitness programs. These programs were a huge success and I began to spend more time training individuals and groups outside of the gym. I had an extremely large clientele, from those who wanted to train in-home, outdoors, and inside a gym. This allowed me to further realize that people didn't have to have a gym to lose weight. Although the gym may be a great place to start for many, I could teach anyone to exercise from anywhere! I want to continue helping others become healthier. I decided to bring my expertise to one of the most beautiful states in the country, Colorado. Here, I know I can continue to change lives through exercise. |
